Photokina Koln 2016

Photokina 2016 opens with a paradoxical situation : more and more images produced but continuous decline in sales for camera manufacturers . Although the smartphone market is slowing , only maintained by sales in India and China.
If demand decreases, the production was also reduced following the earthquake in Kumamoto, Japan. With the increase of the yen currency and the decline of the Euro, manufacturers are increasing their prices of cameras and lenses to maintain their margins and their capacity of R&D. They also seek to be present on growth markets : Action cameras or drones.
Will the market of classic compacts and cameras follow the HiFi audio devices last years ago and become a niche market ?
Is it the twilight of the photo industry ?
