The two brands leaders on the market of the reflex cameras, Canon and Nikon, continue to exploit this segment by proposing
more and more attractive cameras. Thus the new entry of Nikon reflex camera the Nikon D3100
offers a 14 megapixels sensor, video Full HD with active autofocus active, Live View. All for less than 600 € in kit with
a stabilized zoom 18-55. 14 megapixels sensor, HD video and Live View become the new standard 2010 for the digital reflexes
of Canon, Nikon, Sony or Pentax.
Only Olympus with the size restriction of Four Thirds sensor has difficulty to follow up.
Difficult in this context for the expert bridges or the new hybrid cameras to play on the ground of quality and the opening.
They keep for them compactness. Canon complete its offer with Canon D60, with a 18 megapixels sensor, Full HD Video
with 30 images by second and directional screen. Nikon replies with Nikon D7000, in replacement of D90 and which
offers many functions: 16 megapixels sensor, Full HD Video with images by second for the same price as D90 when it was
launched, two years ago. Pentax presents also two new digital reflex. Pentax K-5 with an alloy body inherited from
K-7, a 16.3 megapixels APS-C sensor and a sensitivity being able to go up to 51200 Iso. Pentax KR is the new entry
camera with a 12.4 megapixels sensor and an high-definition screen (921 000 points), Full HD Video, and a sensitivity going
up to 25.600 Iso. These two digital reflex present an excellent quality-price ratio.
Sony updates its offer with Sony Alpha 560 and 580 with Full HD Video and respectively 14 and 16,2 million pixels
sensors. Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony profit of this Photokina to complete their optical range offer as well in Full Format,
for Canon and Nikon, as for format APS-C for all.
Thus Nikon launched the AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VRII for full frame cameras. This lens has a fixed F4 maximum aperture
with a Nano Crystal coating and 9-bladed diaphragm.
In spite of the success of Micro Four Thirds E-PEN cameras, Olympus do not give up the Four Thirds digital reflex system
and its fabulous park of lenses, it proposes a new flagship camera: the Olympus E5 with a 12.3 megapixels sensor
with a dust-protecting and a stabilization system include in the sensor. Its price limits it to unconditional and
aficionados of the brand.
Sigma had presented a new Sigma SD15 camera, , in replacement of the SD14, with always the same 14 megapixels
sensor (2,652 X 1,768 X 3 layers) Foveon X3. All people considered it regrettable that this sensor is the same that
launched four years rather. But in Photokina 2010, Sigma presented the mock-up of superb Sigma SD1 professional
camera with a new sensor Foveon X3 of megapixels, in fact 3×15,3 megapixels.
EVIL cameras (Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangeable Lenses)

Sony NEX5 |

Samsung NX100 |

Sony Alpha 55 |

Panasonic GH2
|
We are waiting innovations from Canon or Nikon (the rumor of a mysterious Q project) on this market segment but
apparently these two marks prefers today to concentrate their efforts on the markets of digital reflex camera and compact
or bridges.
If Sony with its Nex series is one of the important actors on the market of hybrid EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder,
Interchangeable Lenses) cameras. It proposes two camera bodies, in addition to the 560 and 580, Sony Alpha 33 and
Alpha 55 where the traditional mirror chamber is replaced by a semi-transparent fixed mirror. This reduce weight and
volume and allow to have a powerful autofocus during the video action, Autofocus during video is the Achilles' heel of 2010
digital reflex, even if progress is visible on the last models D3100 and D7000 in particular.
The Sony Alpha 33 and 55 replace the optic viewfinder by an electronic one. I think that these cameras constitute only one
temporary step, As soon as the development by phase detection will be mature, and it is only a matter of time and power of
processor, this type of cameras, will not be of much interest compared with the mirror-less cameras like Panasonic GH,
Samsung NX or Sony Nex with their more compact lenses and bodies.
