CES 2025: A technological event without photos or videos
The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) becomes less rich each year in new products dedicated to photos and videos. The 2025 edition nevertheless proved to be a showcase for innovations in computing and consumer electronics.

Screens, stars of the show
Screens shone this year, with ever more impressive technologies:

  • Transparent screens: The LG Signature OLED T, on the market for a few weeks at a price of 30,000, attracted all eyes.
  • Micro-LED and Mini-LED: Samsung continues to push the boundaries with its Micro-LED screens, while TCL, Hisense and Samsung are perfecting Mini-LED technology.

  • Video projectors: compact and efficient
Ultra short throw video projectors also made an impression. Their increased compactness and improved design make them even more suitable for modern interiors.
    Smart glasses and augmented reality
After the success of the Ray-Ban Meta, smart glasses with augmented reality were omnipresent in the aisles of the show, confirming their rise in popularity.

    Connected objects for the home
There was no shortage of innovations in connected objects:
  • Refrigerators equipped with 28 cm screens.
  • Versatile vacuum cleaner robots for optimal cleaning.
  • Spatial audio solutions for an immersive experience in every room.

  • Unfortunately, no new features for photography were unveiled. Only the storage solutions offered by Lexmark caught the attention of image enthusiasts.

    Nikon: Target for the moon

Nikon is not showing any cameras, but thermal blankets designed to protect cameras and lenses from moon dust and extreme temperature changes.

Mitsubishi Fuso, in collaboration with Nikon (in fact a Mitsubishi subsidiary), unveiled a revolutionary in-car camera system at CES. This technology combines a telephoto and wide-angle lens into a single compact device.

A Complete, Optimized View for Drivers

This innovative system allows drivers to:

  • Simultaneously monitor distant objects and the immediate environment.
  • Reduce the number of cameras needed for a 360-degree view.

  • Increased Accuracy through Parallax Elimination
By using a shared optical axis for both focal lengths, this technology eliminates parallax errors. This is essential for vehicle AI to accurately detect and track objects, even at great distances.

Komatsu presents a digger for the Moon.
The famous Japanese company Komatsu has unveiled a new concept: a digger specially designed to operate on the Moon. Without a cabin or driver, this machine is piloted remotely.

Its objective? To shape the lunar soil, in particular to build space bases, while adapting to the unique challenges of the Moon: reduced gravity and extreme temperatures ranging from -170°C to 120°C.

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is an ultra-compact, high-performance Mini Gimbal Camera weighing only 179 g, with reduced dimensions of 139.7 x 42.2 x 33.5 mm. This model offers great stability thanks to its three-axis stabilized gimbal, ideal for smooth and professional shots.
Equipped with a 1" 12 Mpx CMOS sensor, the Osmo Pocket 3 has a 20 mm f/2 lens in 35 mm equivalent. The ISO range extends from 100 to 6400, expandable up to 16,000. It also offers video recording in 4K (3840 x 2160 px) at different frame rates (24/25/30/48/50/60 fps) and can reach 120 fps for impressive slow motion. It also allows you to film in several resolutions and formats: 2.7K (19:9/9:16), 3K (1:1/9:16), 2160p (1:1) and 1080p (16:9/1:1/9:16).
With a 2" rotating touchscreen, the Osmo Pocket 3 also features facial tracking, ensuring your subject is always in focus, even on the move.
The Osmo Pocket 3 offers 166 minutes of battery life in 1080p recording at 24 fps, ideal for long, uninterrupted filming sessions.

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is available for $ 578 (January 2025).
